Baccarat Guide for Australian Players
Baccarat is one of the most popular of online casino games. It is a card game that is played against the house, in which the “banker’s” hand is compared with the “player’s” hand. The game has three results: the player’s hand will win, the banker’s hand will win, or the game will result in a tie. Learn how to play baccarat, get tips advice and more here on this page. How to Play Baccarat
Baccarat is an action-packed game with simple, easy-to-understand rules. Players are challenged to bet on the possibilities that the player’s hand will win or the banker’s hand will win or the game will result in a tie.
To begin the game, players have to wager on any of the three above-mentioned possibilities. Once players have placed their bets, the player and the banker will receive two cards each. Players now have to calculate the point value of the cards dealt to them. All face cards and ten cards are considered to be worth zero, all number cards are taken at face value, and the value of the ace is one point. If, for example, players get a six and a nine, their point value becomes 15. Since 10 is considered to be zero, the point value of their hand is five.
To win a game of baccarat, players should bet on a hand that is as close to nine as possible. The game comes to an end if the point values of the cards dealt to either the banker or the player turn out to be eight or nine. If this does not happen, players can take an extra card. However, a number of rules are associated with receiving a third card and players should be familiar with them before beginning to play for real money.
The hand that ultimately wins is as close to nine as possible. If neither the player’s hand nor the banker’s hand wins, the game results in a tie. If players bet on the banker’s hand and the banker’s hand turns out to be the winner, players have to pay a percentage of their winnings to the house as commission.
Baccarat Variants and Options
The game of baccarat has several variants, the most popular of which are Punto Banco, Baccarat Banque, and Chemin de Fer. Online casinos also offer a variant called Mini Baccarat, but it is the same game as standard baccarat played at very low stakes.
Punto Banco is played with up to eight decks of standard playing cards. The cards in the shoe are shuffled well before they are dealt. Once two cards are dealt to the player and the banker, the croupier will demand to know their point value so that a third card can be dealt according to the game’s rules.
Chemin de Fer is played with six standard decks of playing cards. The game is played by a group of players, some acting as bankers and some as players. In this variant, the player who acts as the banker deals cards to all the other players as well as him/herself. If the banker wins, the players will lose their bets. If the banker loses, he/she will pay the players their winnings. In the next round, another player will act as the banker.
In case of Baccarat Banque, the player who plays at the largest stakes acts as the banker. This variant is played with three standard decks of playing cards. The banker can retire by placing a certain amount of money as stakes and another player takes his/her place as banker.
Online casinos for Aussie players offer a wide range of baccarat games at different stake levels and all players have to do is choose a game that best suits their requirements.
Baccarat Strategies and Tips
Baccarat, which was once a game of elite players, is today an online casino game for everybody. Aussie players who sign up at any of our recommended Playtech or Microgaming online casinos can play baccarat for fun or real money. The game can be played live from the comforts of home or on the move.
Baccarat is more a game of luck than a game of skill, owing to which players should play at low stakes unless they can really afford to play at high stakes. In other words, implementing effective bankroll management strategies is a must in order to avoid going broke while playing baccarat. Players should avoid chasing losses and stop playing after they have won a specific amount.
Some casinos charge a lower rate of commission. While most casinos offer the standard rate of 5% for all winning banker bets, some casinos accept as low as 2.75%. If possible players should register at casinos that accept lower commissions.
The Banker’s bet, in spite of the commission associated with it, is still the most player friendly bet. Players should therefore bet on the banker as much as possible.
